MQTT, Home Assistant, SmartThings and Kasa

Integrations share readings and control compatible equipment. Configure services before using flow actions.

Available options depend on your version, permissions and hardware. For missing actions, see Security and Diagnostics.

Step by step

  1. In System > Communications, enable MQTT and set broker, port, user/password and available publish/discovery options.
  2. Save SmartThings client credentials, complete OAuth authorization and verify linking.
  3. Configure Kasa developer credentials, link the account and review discovered devices.

Options explained

MQTT/Home Assistant
need reachable broker; discovery helps create entities but cannot replace connectivity.
SmartThings
uses account authorization; review temporary personal tokens versus persistent setup.
Kasa
requires Internet and compatible devices; TP-Link products do not all use the same service.
Unlinking
can break dependent actions; inspect flows first.

Troubleshooting

For missing devices, check account, permission scope and compatibility. Keep secrets out of screenshots and exports.
